Gratitude Wall

I can't believe 35 years have gone by since my gig as the Nature Director. The senior camp staff of 1986 made Chuck's life miserable on more than one occasion, but working at camp was good for us and we took great pride in providing the scouts the best week ever. I have deep gratitude to Chuck for supporting us that summer so we could do our jobs, all mischief aside. It was one of the best summers of my life, and I'll have stories forever.

Thanks Andy Beard for all the great memories. The heart and energy you brought to Camp Whitsett won't be forgotten. Enjoyed watching Star Trek with you and and discussing ideas for Pioneering projects.

Motel 16

When Camp Wolverton closed after the summer of 2011, I needed a new Scout Camp home. I re-discovered Camp Whitsett in 2012 and never looked back. My first time at Camp Whitsett was in 1972 or 1973. From 2012 through 2019, I had the privileges of leading service weekends, being a Camp Commissioner, coordinating the upgrades to the Nature Lodge, working on Camp history and memorabilia, and being a Board member of the FOCW. These and other activities gave me the opportunity to "give back" to Scouting. Camp Whitsett is such a great camp, and it has been an honor to be a part of it. The summer of 2020 was cancelled because of the Covid-19 virus, and then my wife and I moved to Florida - so my future activities and involvement with Camp Whitsett will be limited. My sincere thanks go to the Camp, the Staff, the Rangers, the volunteers, and all of the Scouts and Scouters I have met at Whitsett, and I extend my best wishes for the Camp's future!
